Mold should be a major concern for any homeowner. If you feel that it is something that is already affecting your home, then you have to act right away because it can have some serious impact on your way of life and in your family's health.

Mold is a type of fungus that usually grows in dark and damp places. That's why their growth might not be noticeable at first. Only when there are serious effects on the health of individuals are they able to tell that there is a problem.

In order to help you deal with this domestic issue, you must be familiar with the causes of this kind of growth in homes. For starters, here are the things that would have to be present before there can be a infestation in any location:

· Spores are the parts of the mold organism that breaks off in order to reproduce. Because they are very small and light they can become airborne.

· They must some form of source for their food. Things like wood and old fabric are the most common food source for them.

· Mold needs relatively high temperatures since they cannot reproduce in cold weather.

· Oxygen is needed by mold as well as some moisture.

· With all of these factors present mold can start growing within 24 hours.

Here are some of the more common reasons why mold growth is triggered in a specific place:

Moisture- The most important consideration when it comes to mold growth is the presence of moisture in a place. All of the other components of mold growth will be present in a house in some form or another, so moisture that can be found in places where they shouldn't be, can be serious problems.

Humidity- Moisture is always present in the air. If there is a higher amount of moisture in the air then that means it is very humid. That is the perfect growing condition for mold.

Leaking Pipes- Another common cause for mold growth in homes are unrepaired pipes that are always leaking. That is why it is very important that any plumbing issues at home should be taken care of right away.

Leaking Roofs- Leaks and damages in roofs can also lead to mold growth to become accelerated. It is important that any damage or leak in roofs should be repaired right away. This problem can even be more serious when the rainy seasons starts to kick in.

Condensation- This happens when a cold surface comes in contact with the moisture in the air. The gas form of the moisture is then converted to its liquid form. When the resulting liquid becomes deposited in certain places, that can cause mold to start growing.

Inadequate Ventilation- When a place has inadequate ventilation, air will be unable to circulate properly, trapping moisture within. That can be a perfect opportunity for mold to start growing.

Damp Fabric- Wet clothes and other damp fabric can cause the build-up of mold to take place so you should make sure that you do not store wet clothes.
